Wantagh senior Jean Coleman and Cold Spring Harbor junior Amy Roche each won two races at Farmingdale College, and Westbury sophomore Drew Harrison won the 600 meters.
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — Wantagh senior Jean Coleman won both girls distance races at the Class B county championship at Farmingdale College, taking the 1500 meters in 5:02.7, a personal best, by 2.4 seconds over Island Trees senior Kerryann Branker, and the 3000 meters in 10:55.0 by 8.2 seconds over Friends Academy senior Jacque Wachsman. Branker won the 1000 meters in 3:10.6, a personal best, by 2.9 seconds over H. Frank Carey senior Liz Eymold.
Cold Spring Harbor junior Amy Roche won the 300 meters in 44.1 and the 600 meters in 1:41.9, both personal bests. She beat JFK Bellmore senior Dana Corben by 0.6 seconds in the 300 and won the 600 by four seconds. Wantagh senior Colleen Schmidt won the 1500-meter racewalk in 7:56.5, Westbury junior Jennifer Alexander the 55-meter hurdles in 8.9, Roslyn senior Joanna Cohen the 55 meters in 7.6 and Clarke junior Laura Catterson the shot put.
Westbury sophomore Drew Harrison won the boys 600 meters in 1:31.2, a personal best, by 0.3 seconds over Jericho junior Brett Goldberg, and was second in the 300 meters to Valley Stream South senior Leo Jacques, who won in 37.3, also a personal best.
Great Neck North junior Dustin Emrani won the 1000 meters in 2:45.8, a personal best, by 1.7 seconds over Valley Stream South senior Nick Kroll. Oyster Bay senior Ross Williams won the 1600 meters in 4:43.3, a personal best, by 9.1 seconds, and JFK Bellmore senior Pat Burford won the 3200 meters in 10:25.8 by 3.1 seconds over Wantagh senior Sean Prinz.
Malverne senior Onix Salva won the 55 meters in 6.6, 0.1 seconds ahead of Roslyn senior James Lowder, for his sixth win of the season. Westbury junior Stanley Ralph won the 55-meter hurdles in 8.0 by 0.2 seconds over Valley Stream South senior Vitaliy Zhivotenko.
