FARMINGDALE HS DEVELOPMENT MEETS

This year we will to cut back on these meets in terms of time, and numbers.

The meets will run from 6:00 PM, and end about 8:30 PM.  We must be done, equipment cleared, and out of the building at 9 PM. (Coaches must help)

Schools must try to restrict participants to athletes who have some experience in the events.  Either that or rotate athletes from night to night to keep our numbers down.  It is also possible that there could be a token entry fee assessed to each school to defray the costs that Section VIII must pay for the use of the building and building staff.

As usual we will have shot put, high jump, and pole vault.  Pole Vaulters must have their own poles, and a pole vault certification form. It is difficult to deal with “raw” beginners with the time-space constraints we must deal with.  (Race walking and hurdles are tentative)

Again this year Section VIII will start the pole vault at 6’/8’ for B/G, and they will score at that height for the county meet.  We will workout final details for the season at a later date.

                                           Schedule…all nights 6:00 to 8:30…PM.

December:   Three Mondays…..6, 13,  20….

January:       Monday ….3rd ,13th….  hopefully we will add a date or so…

February      Wednesday   2nd    County Pole Vault. Pole vault is also the state qualifier.

Dates could be subject to change!

Millrose Games: This year the meet will feature a L.I. Mile Relay. Six teams, 3 Nassau and 3 Suffolk will compete in boys and girls races. The runoff will be on Jan.12 at the armory. Our standards are still 3:40 boys, and 4:10 girls, and teams must submit an entry to Walt Brem, or Bob Baratta. There could be a small entry fee to cover officials. Walt, Bob, and the two coordinators will decide the field.  The runoff is about 6:30PM. We will accept at least 6 teams for each runoff.  Real times will help!
